Some guestrooms offer a luxurious decor and views of the ocean. One of those, the Rose Hall Great House, even offers candlelight events in the dead of night, where guests have claimed to spot the so-called “White Witch” -the alleged ghost of Annie Palmer, a former resident of the property.Some units at this resort are fitted with individual climate control and a fan, and such self-catering options as a mini bar fridge and coffee/tea making equipment. More mellow tours include a relaxing birdwatching park and some historical plantation sites. There’s also horseback riding, which can even cut through beaches. Those seeking a different kind of water experience can try river rafting trips. If it’s history you’re looking for, the old Fort Montego is a lovely 18th-century relic that still has cannons on display and original walls standing. There’s plenty of other beaches to check out via short taxi rides, including Doctor’s Cave Beach. Romantic night cruises take tourists to the Luminous Lagoon, a glow-in-the-dark experience where millions of microbes light up murky waters. There are some limited shopping destinations near the yacht club to explore as well.įor some ocean fun, everything from parasailing to waterskiing is easily arranged, as are scuba and snorkeling adventures. One thing you can walk to is the Montego Bay Yacht Club, a lovely place for a waterside drink or meal. But venturing not too far beyond the border are five par-71 and par-72 golf courses, within a few minutes’ drive. Nearby AttractionsĪs mentioned, there isn’t much to walk to from the resort itself. The facilities are also well-equipped for weddings, in case you are looking for a nice place to tie the knot. Bars serve everything from the ever-popular Red Stripe to top-shelf liquor, all part of the all-inclusive price. The larger restaurants vary from Mexican and Pan-Asian cuisine to seafood specialties and Continental choices. Impressive eateries are the norm here, with no less than ten restaurants, though some are shared with a neighboring resort. Want to get less physical? Visit the casino or on-site shopping. The fitness spa could be bigger but there are more fun ways to get physical, with tennis, dance classes and non-motorized watersports on hand. The full-service spa features a wide menu of services, as well as saunas and steam rooms. Rooms vary in size and quality-the master suites feature hot tubs-but 24-hour room service and flat-screen TVs can be found in all accommodations (free WiFi is only afforded to the Preferred Club rooms). The main pool has a great ocean view but can get crowded-unless you’re in the Preferred Club, enjoying their separate pool (those guests actually have their own hotel, which can cause some envy for non-Preferred guests). The beach is closed off to all but resort guests, ensuring a private shoreline experience. This adults-only resort is geared towards keeping people on the grounds, as there isn’t anywhere to walk to. Truly away from it all, this secluded adults-only property offers everything needed for a romantic getaway on resort grounds, including both indoor and outdoor activities, varied cuisine and The Promenade with shopping, a casino and a theatre.
